I love Tuckahoe Plantation. It is a place that I fell in love with several years ago. I pinch myself when I have the honor to photograph a wedding at Tuckahoe.
Kris + Doug have a beautiful love story. Work is where they met as friends. Then that friendship grew into more. Years and miles separated them as they each were living in different states. They then decided to make Richmond, Virginia “home” and begin their new chapter. They too fell in love with Tuckahoe Plantation and knew it was the perfect place to celebrate their wedding.
Their ceremony was filled with beautiful heartfelt vows, lots of laughing and a good reminder that family is so important. Doug and Kris each bring children to the marriage and they celebrated the blending of the families by putting a puzzle together that symbolized “one”.
After the ceremony and the family portraits, Doug and Kris took me out back where there is a little Tuckahoe Plantation tradition. Approximately one month out before the wedding date, the couple is to bury a bottle of bourbon upside down to keep the rain away on their wedding day. And guess what, it worked! They dug it up and will enjoy that bottle!!!!
A beautiful catered dinner by Goodrich Gourmet was enjoyed by all. The dance floor came alive with great music by Kings Entertainment. When it was cake cutting time, each of the kids got to pull a charm out before Doug and Kris cut their wedding cake. Such a cute tradition!
The evening ended with a beautiful sparkler exit in front of the Tuckahoe Plantation Home. Best wishes to such a beautiful couple and their family!
